Weekend Series Review 5/2-5/4
Back to back losses sink the Orioles
Friday (Orioles won, pick won) Royals 0 - Orioles 3. The Orioles finally got to Wacha after 6 scoreless innings and put up all 3 of their runs against him in the 7th.
Saturday (Orioles lost, pick lost) Royals 4 - Orioles 0. Sugano pitched 6 innings, but gave up runs in the 4th and the 5th inning. The Oriloes played truly uninspired baseball against Lynch, Erceg, and Schreiber, managing only two hits. 0-4 days from Mullins and Mountcastle don’t help anyone.
Sunday (Orioles lost, pick won) Royals 11 - Orioles 6. 3 runs in 4 innings for Gibson and only 3 strikeouts. The Orioles got on Lorenzen early and often, pushing him out of the game after only 4.2 innings, but a complete collapse from the bullpen dampened the offensive effort. Poor pitch selection and a busy weekend of work. This bullpen will continue to be trouble for the Orioles if they hope to make a deep playoff run.
Key stat from the series - Horrific bullpen play. 6 runs allowed in the 8th inning or later by the Orioles bullpen.
Baltimore -110 to win the series: LOSS
