Weekend Series Preview 6/6-6/8

Chicago Cubs (+145) @ Detroit Tigers (-175)

Pick: CUBS +145

Key Stat - 1st inning runs

Friday -  Brown/Skubal - Cubs LOSE

Tarik Skubal is one of the best pitchers in the game, the Tigers continue to be the best team in baseball, the Cubs are going to lose the opener. THis is all ok. The Cubs starting lineup has very limited at bats against Skubal, and by the time they figure him out, it’ll be too late. Tigers take game 1.

Saturday -  Taillon/Montero - Cubs WIN

Saturday is where this series will start to get interesting, because although the Tigers have seen Taillon before, he can outduel Montero in this one. Look for Cubs hitters to sit on the middle of the plate and swing early to keep the Tigers off balance. Baez and Carpenter will get theirs, but I like the Cubs to win by a couple runs in a game that ends 7-5 or 6-4.

Sunday -  Horton/Flaherty - Cubs WIN

Rubber match on Sunday and Cade Horton pitches to contact. If he can keep the flyballs to a minimum, the Cubs offense can handle Flaherty and his solid strikes in the zone. He isn’t going to be generating many whiffs out of the strike zone, but if handed a lead, Flaherty is more than capable of putting this one away.

Other series worth a look:

Rangers (-120) over Nationals (+100)

Orioles (-120) over Athletics (+100)

Braves (-130) over Giants (+110)
