Weekend series Preview 4/25-4/27

Milwaukee Brewers +105/Saint Louis Cardinals -125

Pick: MIL +105

Key Stat - Starting Pitcher Ks

Friday - Patrick/Liberatore - Brewers LOSE. Chad Patrick showed what he was capable of in his last start against the Athletics. 7 strikeouts in 6 innings against one of the worst lineups in baseball, only giving up 2 runs. While a 2.11 ERA across 4 starts is incredible, and he does have a great start against the DBacks under his belt, I feel like the lefties in the Cardinal’s lineup (Nootbaar, Gorman, Burleson, Scott) can get to Patrick. Matthew Liberatore is a 9+ K/9 guy in his own right and shouldn’t have any trouble with the first two turns through the Brewers order.

Saturday - Priester/Gray - Brewers WIN Quinn Priester is off to a good start in 2025, 1-0 in 3 starts with a 1.93 ERA and has handled the thin air of Denver, the Tigers, and the Giants. 11 strikeouts in 14 innings is a bit of an improvement year over year for the righty, and should be enough to burn through the weaker portions of the Cardinals lineup. A 35 year old Sonny Gray is still a very dangerous pitcher and the Brewers will need to get to him early to ensure a victory on Saturday. 3-0 in 5 starts with 29 Ks in 29 innings pitched should put his line around 6 strikeouts. I like Priester plus as little as 1.5 Ks vs Gray.

Sunday - Quintana/Fedde - Brewers WIN. Jose Quintana has a sparkling 0.96 ERA through 3 starts with only 9 strikeouts. Pitching to contact has been the gem for the 36 year old to start the 2025 season, but I think Sunday is an opportunity to rack up some Ks. Outside of the old guard in St Louis (Arenado and Contreras) none of the Cardinals really have experience against Quintana. Give me Milwaukee in this one and Quintana for a Quality Start with 5+ Strikeouts. Look for Fedde’s odds to sit around 4.5 strikeouts.

Other series worth a look:

Diamondbacks (-115) over Braves

Cubs (-110) over Phillies

Red Sox (-110) over Guardians
