Tuesday Turn Three 7/1/25
Tuesday Night National Game - Cleveland Guardians @ Chicago Cubs (8:05 PM ET, TBS).
Lets kick off July with a midwestern (ish, Ohio isn’t the midwest really) game! Two teams with winning records clash at Wrigley Field for a national audience. The Cubs (49-35), fresh off a seven-game road trip, return home to face the Guardians (40-42). The pitching matchup is set to feature the Cubs' left-hander Matthew Boyd against the Guardians' righty Gavin Williams, both of whom are looking for a strong start to July.
Hitter 1 - Nico Hoerner (Chicago Cubs)
Hoerner is a great contact hitter who gets a favorable matchup at home tonight. He's facing Guardians' RHP Gavin Williams, who has struggled more with right-handed hitters this season (.295 BA against) than lefties. Hoerner excels at putting the ball in play and using the whole field, a great approach for the sometimes tricky winds at Wrigley. He's a solid bet to get on base and spark the Cubs' offense.
Hoerner Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs -110
Hitter 2 - Steven Kwan (Cleveland Guardians)
Kwan has been a consistent force for the Guardians, hitting for a high average all season. He'll have the platoon advantage against the Cubs' left-handed starter, Matthew Boyd. While Boyd has good overall numbers (7-3, 2.65 ERA), his strikeout rate isn't overpowering, which plays right into Kwan's hands. Kwan makes a living by not striking out and putting the ball in play, which is the perfect recipe for success against a pitcher like Boyd.
Kwan 2+ Total Bases +130
Pitcher - Matthew Boyd (Chicago Cubs)
Info Here: Boyd has been excellent for the Cubs this year, stepping up as a reliable arm in their rotation. However I do not see this game being a shutout, and the Guardians (mybe off the bat of Kwan should be able to get to Boyd. While I generally don’t take a “negative” prop for the picher I select in this spot, it's a valuable angle here. The Guardians' offense is scrappy and doesn't strike out much, so they could manufacture a couple of runs against Boyd even if he pitches well.
Boyd Over 1.5 Earned Runs -155
