Weekend Series Review 5/9-5/11

I have not been very good on these series picks, but these were entertaining games to watch at least. Really came down to Grant Anderson giving up his only run of the week at the worst possible time. Great pitching throughout the weekend by both teams, limiting total run output to just 18 runs for the series.

Friday (Brewers lost, pick lost) Brewers 3 - Rays 4. Friday the Brewers got on the board early and Quintana was able to go 5.1 innings of 2 run ball. The errors were bad in this one and put the bullpen in a situation where they needed to be perfect, which they were not. Koenig pretty much came in and threw straight down the middle of the plate for the loss.

Saturday (Brewers lost, pick lost) Brewers 2 - Rays 3. Grant Anderson is having a great year so far for the Brewers with a 8.31 K/9 and an ERA well below his career average at 2.91. He is also the reason they lost the game on Saturday. The Rays small balled their way to a walkoff after Taj Bradley successfully worked 6 innings to spare the bullpen for the Rays.

Sunday (Brewers won, pick won) Brewers 4 - Rays 2. Chad Patrick ended up taking the mound for the Brewers Sunday and pitched well enough in 4.1 innings of 2 run ball. Solid 4.2 inning from the bullpen in this one, allowing only 2 hits the rest of the game.

Key stat from the series - Limited Run Support. With only 18 runs scored in the series, small opportunities became wins and losses. Both of these teams will need more from their offenses moving forward.

Milwaukee +120 to win the series: LOSS
